A little about ourselves
We are two restless college professors who migrate up and down the East Coast seasonally. Our love of the outdoors keeps us moving despite the demands of our academic life in Virginia. Eight years ago, we threw caution to the wind and bought our first "second" home on the northern Maine coast.
Claire fell under Maine's spell on an outdoor adventure-filled road trip up Route 1 one summer in the mid- 1980's, awestruck by the beauty of a place where the mountains meet the sea. Bev discovered Maine while in graduate school and made the Maine landscape a primary subject for her paintings. WaterColor Cottage located in Roque Bluffs is our summer home and Bev's summer studio.
Claire has been going to the Gulf coast of Florida since birth. Her family has owned the property in Inlet Beach for over 50 years. We were given a lot for building by Claire's dad and began construction on Claire's "dream" late in 2015.
Bev grew up in Western North Carolina, and our quiet mountain cottage is situated within the 70 acres of her family's land. The mountain house is our go to place during the academic year since it's only half a day's drive from our home in Virginia.
Jingle and Lily travel with us always.
